It would be great, right? Having unlimited money, your own private jet, a collection of exotic or classic cars, multiple mansions, your own island, your own custom work schedule, a perfect life for your family, owning your own sports franchise, etc. sounds pretty good, doesn't it?

Being a billionaire seems like it is pretty hard to beat. Although I'm not one yet, I do like to study about how to think like a billionaire and make huge global impacts like they do.

You can learn a lot from these people and if you have the right work ethic and imagination, you could become a billionaire yourself. You could even make history and be remembered for centuries.

Of course, before any of these things can happen, you need to understand how these people think and act differently from the other 7 billion or so people on the planet.

How Billionaires Come Up With Their Ideas

When you think of people like Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, or Bill Gates, you think about how many lives their companies have actually impacted.

If you want to come anywhere close to being a multimillionaire or billionaire, you need to understand that dreaming 10x bigger than everyone and impacting the masses is what you should strive for.

If you can find that sweet spot between what you are passionate about and what the world needs to be a better place, you can come up with an idea that could be truly extraordinary.

To find that sweet spot, ask yourself:

  • What am I passionate about?
  • What did I want to do growing up before anyone ever started telling me what I should do?
  • Is there a billion person problem that hasn't been solved in the world?

Peter Diamantis said it best:

“The best way to become a billionaire is to help a billion people.”

Of course there are wealthy companies that make high end products for small target markets of people, like Lamborghini for instance, but that could be a tough way to go if you really want to make an impact on the entire world (which is what the top billionaires do).

Instead of doing something like making a slightly upgraded version of a product other companies have already come out with, the wealthiest people of the world tend to come up with what seems like a crazy idea no one has ever done and make it a reality.

When you just try and slightly upgrade a product or process for your business, you still have a lot of competition. When you come out with something never been done before that fills a need, there is very little competition.

Some examples of companies without much competition when they started:

Peter Diamantis started Human Longevity which is geared towards helping people increase their lifespan by 30 or 40 years.

He also is working on a company that will deal with Asteroid mining. How much competition do you think there is in Asteroid mining? Yeah, not very much.

Elon Musk founded Paypal, an easier way to pay for online purchases. He also founded Tesla, the car manufacturer that has revolutionized electric cars before they were hardly around.

Now, Teslas are going to be some of the first cars to drive themselves.

My point is, these people shoot for the moon with their ideas and figure out ways to impact the world with something that has never been done before.

Why Entrepreneurs Have A Duty To Come Up With Crazy Ideas:

As entrepreneurs, we are relied on to shoot for the moon with crazy ideas to improve the world, because we know that we are the only ones that can do so.

Entrepreneurs are the ones that have to be willing to come up with and experiment with crazy ideas and be willing to fail 99 out of 100 times because no one else can.

The government can't afford to try out crazy ideas and fail time after time to get it right because when they try something different and it fails, there is a congressional investigation.

In large corporations, they have to worry about their stock prices taking a big hit.

With the government and large corporations having their hands tied, it is up to the entrepreneurs to experiment and come up with the next greatest successes of the world.

How To Get Rid Of What Is Holding You Back

Billionaires are just like you. They have the same amount of time each day that you do. They put their pants on one leg at a time like you do. They have flaws and failures like you do.

Billionaires are not from another planet or just born to be successful. The real difference between the wealthiest people on Earth and you is the way they think and do things on a daily basis.

If you can learn to start applying some of the same concepts to your life that they have, you will start to think and become more successful like them. But how do you do that?

A few things that separate billionaires from the rest:

  • They aren't afraid to fail. They realize every failure is one step closer to a success.
  • They always better themselves on a daily basis. How can you keep providing more value to the world if you don't improve yourself? Start reading the same books as they do.
  • They have morning routines to get them ready to conquer the day. Don't get off to a bad start because it could destroy the day's progress before it starts. Exercise, eat right, meditate, do breathing exercises, practice autosuggestion, etc. to put yourself in a peak state to take action.
  • They aren't afraid to pursue their dreams or unchartered territory. What if Thomas Edison gave up on the light bulb? What if Henry Ford quit on the automobile? What if the Wright brothers gave up on flying?
  • They spend more time with people that are positive and challenge them to achieve great things.

“You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.”

– Jim Rohn

I could go on all day about habits I've learned from how billionaires go through their days differently than the masses. The main thing you need to do is get your mind in the right place.

I believe someone who is very successful is just the version of someone else without the success blocks in their mind. We are our own worst enemies when it comes to preventing our success.

If you can start reading the same books as the most successful people in the world, like:

And of course those are just a few books to get started on. There are a lot more that you can research to help you grow as an entrepreneur and as a human being.

People like Tony Robbins also specialize in the art of bringing out potential in people and removing the success blocks that are in our minds to allow us to think without limits.

Our minds are like smartphones. We have our operating system and our apps. Our operating system is the way we think and react to everything.

Our apps are the different skills we learn like speaking another language, advanced math, writing, etc.

People tend to always try and install new apps, thinking it will solve the problems they have or make them successful, but it may have been the operating system all along.

The first step towards creating the right operating system for your brain to function more like a billionaire's is to be aware of how you react to situations and how you think on a daily basis.

Find where the problems lie in your thinking and find ways to address them through courses, books, audios, therapy, etc. Tony Robbins's Date With Destiny is a good course example for this.

Take Action On Your Ideas, Don't Sweat The Small Stuff

First off, I want you to realize that worrying about doing everything perfectly the first time will get you nowhere.

If you have a billion dollar idea, you need to come up with a good plan to bring it to life and act on it right away.

Do not worry how version 1.0 will look. Just get it going and use feedback to improve it. Theories are not going to always be right and money can't be made without action.

The founder of Linkedin, Reid Hoffman, said it best:

“If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late.”

And when the founder of Linkedin says something, you definitely have to listen.

Take Action, Don't Make Excuses, And Stick With It For The Long Haul.

Before starting, make sure when you come up with this idea that it is something you are passionate about. If not, the odds are you won't stick with the project long term.

Also, when trying make your idea a reality, don't worry about not having a formal office, the best connections, etc.

Elon Musk started out small coding video games and Jeff Bezos started Amazon in his garage with money he borrowed from his parents.

It's okay to start really small with your ideas. You don't need a fancy office or a giant bank account to get started.

Another thing that holds back a lot of people from pursuing their big ideas is a lack of confidence in themselves or from others in their ideas.

Did you know that Elon Musk was actually too introverted to go get a job in the field he wanted to study when he was starting out? Now look where he is. He started Paypal, Tesla, and SpaceX.

Did you know that Richard Branson was dyslexic and dropped out of school at 16 years old to pursue entrepreneurship. Look at him now. Virgin Group owns over 200 companies.

Today's billionaires didn't make excuses, even though many of them could have. Instead they took action and pursued their interests. Now, they are helping make the world a better place.

Billionaires Don't Listen To The Majority

“Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, you need to pause and reflect.”

– Mark Twain

The reason billionaires went their own way in life is because they wanted to accomplish more than the majority of the world. The majority of the world is either struggling or just plain average.

They work crappy jobs that they hate and do whatever they're told their whole lives. Don't get me wrong, we need these people in the world to keep everything afloat, but there is more to life what the majority does.

The majority of people won't be remembered by anyone but their small circle of influence that is their friends, family and coworkers.

The majority of people will not get to buy everything they want or go anywhere they want.

The majority of people spend their lives making lots of money for the company they work for, only to bring home a small amount to get by on. But, what if you went against that?

To make your dreams come true and really make history, you will be met with a lot of criticism and doubt from others who just don't understand.

Here's another great quote that outlines this:

“When 99% of people doubt your ideas, you are either gravely wrong or about to make history.”

– Scott Belsky

Don't be afraid to go against what others may advise you to do. When it comes to knowing who to listen to as you work on making your big ideas come true, always consider the source.

If someone who has no money gave you financial advice, would you take it? If someone with a history of bad divorces gave you marriage advice, would you take it? Hopefully you wouldn't.

Through the journey of becoming a very successful entrepreneur, don't worry too much about what the average person advises you to do.

Instead, surround yourself with successful people who have been in your shoes to learn from.

2 Great Ways To Get Some Help

Sure, the idea of you helping millions of people and making more money than you can count may sound good, but what if you don't have what you need to make it happen?

One thing you will learn from billionaires is that they had to get over the “do everything yourself” approach. You will need help from others along the way, so don't be afraid to ask for it.

1. Incentive Prizes

So maybe you have a spectacular idea for something that can make the world a better place, but you don't have the expertise or resources to make it happen.

One way to come up with new innovations and make big ideas a reality is to use incentive prizes. In other words, offer a reward to the person who figures out how to bring your idea to life.

One company that does this is XPrize, founded by Peter Diamantis, with an all star board of trustees, including Elon Musk, Arianna Huffington, Larry Page, etc.

XPrize actually puts together huge incentive rewards for people that can take innovative ideas that could greatly benefit the world and make them possible.

Using these prizes is a great way to take some world leaders' ideas and combine them with the expertise of people that could potentially make them happen.

2. Crowdfunding

If you don't have necessary funds to take on a big project, many billionaires will tell you that crowdfunding is a great way to go.

In fact, many successful entrepreneurs will tell you that if you can't execute a crowdfunding campaign, you may want to rethink the direction you are going in.

All you have to do is let the public know about your idea, what it will do for them, and come up with a great plan to execute for raising money from multiple sources.

Not only is crowdfunding great because the funding isn't all coming from your pocket, but it also will tell you how great of an idea you may actually have.

Anyone can tell you that you have a great idea that could change the world, but it's the ones that pull out their wallets that really mean they trust in your plan.

If you're looking into this strategy, go to crowdfunding.com for some of the best sites to get started.

How Billionaires Stay On Track To Get The Big Results

The most successful people in the world all had to go through countless challenges and failures along the road to their success and you will too.

This is why it is very important you know why you are doing what you are doing and that you are fully committed.

Here's a few tips for making sure you stay on track while pushing your startup towards your ultimate goal:

  • Don't just do what people want you to do. Make sure you are doing something you are passionate about. Passion is what will keep you working and get you through the tough times.
  • Why do you believe your idea is important? What will it do for the world if you stick with it and bring it to life.
  • Look at how far you've taken your idea already. Most of the people who fail seem to just quit before exhausting every option to create success. Elon Musk didn't quit when he had to go into debt and live in a rental home, after his SpaceX missions failed 3 times. Now, look where he is. SpaceX is working on trying to colonize Mars.
  • Think about what kind of legacy you want to leave. Think about how many people your project could help. What do you feel like you were put on Earth to do? Were you put here to sit in a cubicle your entire life, or were you put here to make the world a better place and leave your mark on history?
  • Seek advice from others who have accomplished great things and been in a similar situation as you. It never hurts to learn from someone who has been there and done it.

      Hi Justin,

Very creative and thoughtful article, I must say. Truly speaking, I never even thought to become a billionaire. I have always tried to earn more than what I do already. So basically i just tried to increase my income. That’s all.

I never had a thought to become a billionaire. Probably this is far beyond our imagination. I believe it’s same for almost any ordinary person on this planet. Surely those who are billionaires have something we don’t have; may be positive thinking; may be extreme desire to earn money; may be some things we can’t even imagine of.

But one thing is sure that these people have done something great; something unique that made themselves different from others. I have read many articles how rich people think and the biggest differences between the mindsets of a rich person and a poor person.

One I can remember right now is that poor people focus on saving more while rich people focus on earning more and even more.

So thoughts make a difference. Really!

To answer your question, if I am given a billion dollars now, probably I will be confused about what to do with it. I may also be excited. I may even try to do something that make around me happier or may even try to make the world a better place. Truly speaking, I am not sure.

However, nice read. Just shared it on Twitter. I had to.

Have a good day ahead …. Tamal

To write this post I need a month I guess 🙂 you researched very well .nice post with billionaires in it .Whenever u see yourself on side of majority .you need to pause and reflect.does it means to be a different creator then others ?

      • Justin

Hey Zain, glad you liked the post. I think it just means that the majority of people aren’t creators and they mostly work for others making someone else’s dreams come true. To be different from the crowd is good because it gives you a better chance pursue your dreams and explore new possibilities without limitations.

That could be a huge discovery if you could do that. That could help a lot of people who are dependent on medication.

      Great post

      1) look for missing things in world or the important things that you want to share with everybody and known by very few people

ex.before Right brothers Airoplane was missing, Before KFC teasty chicken recepie was missing, before Windows great Oprating system was missing.
      Skills- Knowledge,Creativity,Right Mindset,willpower,

      2) use your skill to create that or do that by diffrent way ,focus and only do that things,
ex. Mark Zukenburg write coading for his idea Facebook, Steve Jobs orgnised great team to convert his ideas in reality, Virgin uses creativity to serve in many sectors
      Skills- Persistance,Time, Money,People Management

      3) never stop until you reach to everybody who need that thing you made.
ex. Coca Cola is still advertising, Apple still innovates new products.
Skills – Marketing,Branding, good Emotional and Physical Health,

      4) you done then go back to step (1)
      entreprenure never stop
ex.Elon Musk started paypal then Tesla now spaceX. Virgin started with music company now works in telcom, airtravel and many more

p.s.- light bulb discovered by Thomas Edison

(please ignore all spelling mistakes ,English is my third languge.)
