Network marketing mistake #10 is about people pitching their opportunity to random people, before they even get to know them.
Never ever pitch opportunities or start spamming links to people you haven't even talked to before.
What actually makes you think anyone would want to listen to you when you do this when you probably never listen to those that do it to you. It's called building rapport, then if they want more information, you can give it to them. Don't ever send a pitch to someone unless they want it. This mistake drives me absolutely insane and people do it to me all the time.
What This Huge Network Marketing Mistake Proves:
1. You have no idea what you're doing. Obviously, you aren't good at marketing if you spam people and pitch your opportunity before even learning more about them. If you work in marketing and prove to people you're an amateur at marketing, people won't want to join you.
2. It proves you don't care about the people. When you get to know prospects first, build rapport with them and just try and help them, they automatically want to join you. If you pitch them right off the bat, then they realize all you care about is taking shortcuts to get sales and you don't care about helping others succeed.
3. You aren't a leader. If you pitch your opportunity first when communicating with people, it shows them you aren't a leader. Go follow some other leaders and top producing network marketers and study them. Notice how they will never send you pitches or post things that are spammy. If you want to be a leader with a big following, model after other leaders.
What To Do Instead Of Pitching Your Opportunity
What you need to do is build rapport with people online. Learn more about where they are in their life and what they do for a living. Just ask them some questions and have a casual conversation with them. If you see that they are struggling with something or want to start a business, then you can ask them if they would like more information about what you do.
Never assume they want to know about your opportunity because a lot of people won't. Remember that these are real people and some have needs that you business can meet, and some of them won't want anything to do with it. That's just how it works.
Conclusion
If you think you can get big results in network marketing by pitching your opportunity to as many people as possible, think again. My advice to you would be to stop doing this and start building rapport with people. The more people you help, the more money will follow. Don't be so worried about the money. Model after the top leaders and get good at talking to people. Results will come with consistency in giving value to the world.
