Program Associate at Grassroots International
Grassroots International, a global grantmaking and social action organization based in Boston, MA, is looking for a social-justice minded, organized internationalist to join our team! The Program Associate is a new, entry-level role that will play a vital part in supporting our Program Team, global grantmaking systems and overall mission to connect people in the US with global movements that defend land, territory, water, food, seeds, and the earth. Together, we address the root causes of injustice and oppression, and build alternatives that nurture human rights, ecological justice, and liberation.
The Program Associate (PA) will help facilitate the smooth and efficient functioning of the Program Team; implement and improve administrative systems in support of the organization’s mission; and provide direct support to the Program Director and members of the Program Team. This position carries out a wide range of support and communication functions essential to day to day operations at Grassroots International. The PA reports to the Program Director to ensure high-quality administrative support, and is responsible for setting administrative priorities and work plans.
The PA’s primary responsibilities include: Logistical, scheduling, and administrative support for the Program Director; support to program team members in grantmaking administration and travel, reception and information flow; and general administrative support. As an active member of the Program team, the PA will have the opportunity for political education and engagement with global social movements.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide Support to the Program Director, including: calendar and daily schedule; research and briefing materials; expense reporting and spending authorization; and clerical, administrative, and project-based support
- Coordinate and schedule travel logistics
- Provide support to other program team members in grantmaking administration
- Support notetaking and technology at meetings
- Track information on advocacy letters in which Grassroots International participates
- Respond to and resolve administrative inquiries and questions;
- Receive email, provide information and route messages as appropriate
- Assist in developing and maintaining resources, such as standard informational summaries, for responding to inquiries
- Provide logistical and other support for Program events, including support for communication and travel arrangements
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills and Capacity
- A commitment to the mission of GRI;
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a mission driven organization;
- Detail-oriented and professional, preferably with experience in an administrative role;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain administrative systems, and to create and maintain accurate and complete records;
- Strong familiarity with office technology and project management, including the G-Suite, and Microsoft Office, Zoom. Additional familiarity with other office systems, such as Airtable and expense tracking software, preferred;
- Good interpersonal skills; ability to manage up, and to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with a diversity of coworkers, volunteers,and others;
- Record of honesty, integrity and sound judgment;
- Authorization to work in the United States;
- Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods;
- Proficiency in one or more of our Program languages strongly preferred (Arabic, Haitian Creole, French, Portuguese, or Spanish);
- Experience with community organizing or social movements strongly preferred.

Compensation
