Grocery shopping
One great way to get paid to do something easy is to use Shipt. Shipt allows you to make money grocery shopping for others using an Uber-like app.
Some earn up to $22/hr or so because you also receive a combination of a flat fee, percentage of the order, and a tip.
If you do it right, you might make a full-time income from it at around $600 per week.
Quick tip: You might start out doing more small orders than big orders. Small orders tend to get similar tips and take less time (and less trunk space) than big orders.
Freelance taxi driving
If you want to work whenever you want and just take people from point A to point B in your vehicle, you might try Lyft. Some people report making around $800 per week when doing it full-time and all you do is give people a ride.
This is especially effective if you live near a major city or airport. You get paid a percentage of ride fees, 100% of tips, and you can also refer new drivers. Because of all this, Lyft claims you can make up to $35 per hour.
Quick tip: Make sure you're available to drive during rush hour in the morning and evening.
Renting out your home / Being a tour guide
If you have a spare room, guest house, or don't mind just renting your entire home out for a few days, you can make good money with Airbnb. You can also get paid to take people to the hot spots in the area.
Depending on where you live and what you offer, you could make as much as $2,000 – $3,000 per month being an Airbnb host. Plus, your home is insured by the company.
Quick tip: Airbnb is very versatile with how you can host. You don't have to have a fancy guest house or cabin in the woods. You can easily rent out a tent in your backyard or just let people rent your house while you're out of town.
Delivering food
If you're not much of a people person but still want to make money on a platform like Uber, you could always try delivering food.
With platforms like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and GrubHub, you have a lot to work with in terms of finding people who will pay you good money to deliver their food.
All of these platforms are fairly similar. You and the customers have the app, they order from a restaurant that's partnered with that app, you accept the order, pick it up, and deliver to their doorstep.
Not only do you get paid to do the job, but you also typically get decent tips. Some people even earn $1,000 per week!
Quick tip: Weekends have a HUGE demand for food delivery, so you'll want to do more work on Saturday and Sunday to earn the big bucks.
Starting a YouTube channel
If you want to start a side gig that can eventually be your full-time occupation, YouTube might be one of the best choices out there.
You can start for free, use your unique talents, set your own work schedule, have multiple streams of income, work from home, and do whatever you want in your videos as long as they don't break YouTube's rules.
How much money you make really depends on the type of channel you have, how you monetize it, and how much total watch time your videos are getting.
Because it would otherwise take me weeks to explain all the details about YouTube, I think its best if you just go at your own pace and check out my YouTube tips playlist here.
Quick tip: YouTube loves channels that make them money. Advertisers also love channels that make them money.
So, if you want to make a lot of money from ad monetization (the most common way to make money on YouTube), then make videos that cover things that help advertisers and get lots of watch time without offending anyone.
Photography
With just about everyone trying to get their hands on the latest smartphone, a lot of use now have access to a pretty good camera. Therefore, there's no excuse not to make some money from that phone by selling some of your photos that you already have.
I recommend starting out with an app like Foap. Foap allows you to easily upload your images from your smartphone to the app and get paid $5 per download with no limit.
This means one photo could be downloaded over and over again, making you $5 every time. If you keep uploading new photos fairly often, you could earn quite a bit.
After you get pretty good with Foap you might graduate to stock photo websites like iStockphoto. Some people make a living on sites like these, uploading new photos all the time and earning royalties.
You'll probably need to invest in an actual camera at that point though. But hey, maybe you can buy one with part of you Foap earnings.
Quick tip: Upload frequency is the name of the game with stock photos. Obviously some photos do better than others, but you need to keep uploading 50 to 100 per month if you want to quit your job and do photography full-time.
