When it comes to building the perfect lead capture pages, the two services that come to your mind first are probably LeadPages and Optimizepress.

These two services are the “top dogs” in the squeeze page creation category for marketers because of their top-quality features and incredibly large fan bases.

Yet, they both bring different styles to the table, leaving many of us marketers to wonder, which one is actually the best for me?

It's time to break down every aspect of these two landing page services and finally determine which one may be best for YOUR specific needs. Here's the full breakdown:

Pre-Made Templates

While both LeadPages and Optimizepress have templates that make it easier for you to create squeeze pages, one has a clear advantage. Optimizepress has templates, but they must be changed and edited quite a bit.

Here are some of Optimizepress' templates:

Ease Of Use

With LeadPages, you can edit all text, most colors and even upload your own images or logos with just a few clicks.

With Optimizepress, you can drag and drop just about anything into your page, including timer, testimonials, images, videos, etc.

Anyone could use either of these services easily.

Advantage –> Neither

Time It Takes To Create Pages

LeadPages takes just a few minutes to create a page because you can host it on their site and everything is ready except for the changes you need to make to writing, colors or images.

Optimizepress takes a little more configuration because you have to edit the layout along with everything else. It gives you so many options that it can take forever to pick which ones you want.

Advantage –> LeadPages

Page Customization

When it comes to squeeze page customization, Optimizepress is really second to none. They have a great drag-and-drop interface with countless elements you can add to the page.

LeadPages, while having a decent amount of options, is more for someone who doesn't want to get too creative.

Here's just a few of the Optimizepress elements you can choose from:

  • 2 column text
  • Affiliate page snippets
  • Arrows
  • Audio player
  • Bullet block
  • Button
  • Calendar date and time
  • Content toggle
  • Countdown timer
  • Course description box
  • Custom HTML / Shortcode
  • Divider

optimizepress options

There are over 50 elements that can be dragged and dropped into a squeeze page you can use with the power of Optimizepress.

Advantage –> Optimizepress

Requirements

With LeadPages, you don't even need a website. They have extremely fast servers and you can start getting leads without anything other than their service and an email marketing service like Getresponse or Aweber.

With Optimizepress, you need a website to use it. You create pages through your website and Optimizepress comes as a plugin for WordPress.

Advantage –> LeadPages

Other Features

Optimizepress has another service that you can get with your subscription called “Optimize Member” that allows you to create quality membership sites for no extra charge.

With Optimizepress you can actually create or download a custom template and upload it to use as a page on your site.

LeadPages doesn't have near as many options for building and saving your own templates. Optiumizepress also has more membership pages, sales pages, etc.

LeadPages has uploading for your site, while Optimizepress is completely integrated with it. And, they both have marketplaces as well as 2-step optin.

Advantage –> Optimizepress

Bonus: Affiliate Program

For affiliate marketers, LeadPages offers a 30% commission on each payment you refer (requires at least a pro membership).

For Optimizepress, you can get 40% commissions and 40% continuity (requires Optimizepress account).

Both have great affiliate programs and although Optimizepress pays out more, you can earn just as much with LeadPages because of their slightly higher prices and the option of monthly payments.

Advantage –> Neither

The Verdict

If you prefer more options, customization, memberships, integration, etc., Optimizepress is your best bet.

If you don't have a website, want to create pages faster, prefer more user-friendliness, want pages that are tested and proved by marketers, etc., LeadPages is probably better for you.

It really depends on what your specific marketing needs are, so I can't tell you which one is best for you. Only you can decide that for yourself after knowing the facts about both options.

Which do YOU prefer between Optimizepress vs LeadPages?

    • Aloysius A.

Awesome stuff, Leadpages is nice but little expensive… also the FrontMeter.com is pretty cool, maybe you should add to the list because of its very powerful ProScanner feature that allows you to copy any page-design you like by just entering its URL.

If someone is looking for the best, then I would suggest http://frontmeter.com or http://leadpages.net – Rest is the noise 🙂

      • Justin Bryant

Thanks for the suggestion, Aloysius. I used to use LeadPages mostly, but then switched to Optimizepress myself because I design my own pages and I get more freedom with it. I’ll have to check out Front Meter.

Can i do with these module sales pages with shopping cart?

      • Justin Bryant

You should be able to create shopping carts with Optimizepress by combining it with OptimizeMember or a third party tool. You can’t do that with LeadPages.

    • Kelli M

Hi Justin. Thank you for the informative article. I’ve been debating on which service to use and have been leaning more toward OP instead of LP. After reading your article, I feel better about my decision. Much appreciated.

      • Justin Bryant

Hi Kelli, I’m just happy to help. I know it can be hard to choose between the two services.

    • Tom

Thanks for doing this comparison. IM on optimize press for my site but was thinking of using leadpages as well…. tough call..

      • Justin Bryant

I’m glad I could help, Tom. They both are great services. I primarily use Optimizepress as of right now because of my more advanced customization needs. But, if you want to get leads without involving your website, LeadPages may be worth getting.

    • Kat

I wanted to add that with LeadPages there’s a limit to what you can do for your sales pages. Yes, the lead generation features and pages are great and get people up and running fast. But when you want to create a high-converting sales page, which is accomplished primarily through the sales copy, you need more customization–add stuff, remove stuff, move stuff around, etc.

I was thinking of going with both, LeadPages and OptimizePress, but I’m thinking I should just go with OptimziePress. I like that OptimizePress has 2-step opt-in. What I’d like to know is, are OptimizePress’s templates tested or offer reviews from people who have used them with success?

      • Justin Bryant

Hey Kat, that’s a great point you made. Once you get past landing pages and get more into sales pages, you are pretty limited with LeadPages. And, to answer your question, yes. You can find reviews on templates for Optimizepress. To check them out, go to marketplace.optimizepress.com. Another trick I might recommend is you look at the best LeadPages templates and then create your own version of it on Optimizepress. You can make it pretty much identical without even using LeadPages. Hope that helps!

    • Giancarlos Gonzalez

      Hey Justin,
Thank you so much for this Post, it is really interesting, but I was reading another post where the guy said that the Optimizepress price is per month… I was on their website and I am not sure about it.
you said that the price is just “One Time”… I’m confused. Can you help me?

      • Justin Bryant

Hey Giancarlos, I actually still use Optimizepress and it is still a one time fee. There are no monthly fees I know of. The only recurring fee of any kind is if you want to pay annually for more updates and customer support (it expires about a year after purchasing). You can still use Optimizepress all you want without updates or support. It’s $39 to renew updates and support for another year if you even want it. This link on their website shows you that it’s not a monthly fee: https://www.optimizepress.com/co-1/
