The remote medical scribe position at Scribe-X involves working alongside healthcare providers to document patient encounters in real-time, ensuring accurate and detailed medical records. This role is remote, allowing individuals to work from home and gain valuable clinical experience.
Key responsibilities
- Chart Preparation: Preparing patient charts according to clinic protocols.
- Real-time Documentation: Accompanying providers during patient visits and accurately documenting the patient history, physical examination findings, procedures performed, and treatment plans.
- Quality Metrics: Reminding providers of relevant quality metrics and documenting to support these metrics.
- Order Entry: Entering laboratory and radiographic studies as ordered by the provider.
- Medication Orders: Entering medication orders as dictated by the provider.
- Patient Instructions: Documenting and printing instructions for the patient.
- Chart Review: Reviewing completed charts with the provider between patients or at the end of the shift.
- Preference Updates: Updating provider and clinic preference documents as necessary.
Qualifications and requirements
Applicants should possess excellent verbal and written English skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to quickly learn new software, especially EMR systems. A pre-health career track and a bachelor's degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are preferred. Alternatively, 1+ years of full-time scribe experience is preferred for those without a college degree. A typing speed of at least 60 WPM is generally required, with some assignments needing 80 WPM. Full-time, Monday-Friday availability is typical. A HIPAA-compliant workspace and professionalism when handling sensitive data are essential.
