Details of what's coming:
Lots of new monetization features are coming to Instagram in the coming months. Here's what has been announced:
Instagram Live badges
Starting June 2020, badges can be purchased by fans for $0.99, $1.99 and $4.99 on Instagram Live videos (Like YouTube Super Chat).
These let fans stand out in comments and allow them to support their favorite influencers directly.
IGTV ads
Also in June, ads will debut on some Instagram videos.
At least 55% of revenue will be shared with creators, so it is pretty similar to how the split is with YouTube. Sephora, Puma, and Ikea are a few companies that have apparently gotten onboard with advertising on Instagram videos.
As far as the length of ads, they're supposed to be around 15 seconds long.
Video ads and live badges will start with a small group of US influencers, later expanding to the rest of the U.S., Brazil, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Turkey, Spain and Mexico.
Instagram Shopping
Another feature coming in the future called “Instagram Live Shopping” will let users tag products. This will later expand to users being able to sell their own products directly on the platform.
This feature kind of reminds me of the Pinterest product pins that are supposed to encourage more direct purchases.
Instagram Collabs
On top of all that, there is one more new feature coming to Instagram in the future called the “Brand Collabs Manager,” which is a marketplace where influencers can connect with sponsors.
