Perks

Enjoy the freedom to choose assignments that interest you, work at any time of the day, and pick up as many projects as you like.

Make a meaningful impact on student learning by providing personalized feedback, one of the most effective ways to help students improve.

Develop professional skills with ongoing feedback and coaching to enhance your abilities as an educator and communicator.

How It Works

  1. Claim an assignment from the Assignment Board.
  2. Grade and provide feedback based on a rubric, prompt, and the teacher’s grading instructions.
  3. Wait for approval from the teacher, who will review your work and provide a personalized rating and review.

Types of Assignments

Graders evaluate assignments that require high-quality, rubric-based scoring and feedback. The majority of assignments are writing-based and come from English and Social Studies classes, so graders should expect these subjects to be their primary focus.

For writing assignments, graders assess student strengths and areas for growth, offering both individualized feedback and a class-wide summary for the teacher.

Additional subjects include science, math, psychology, computer science, and more. Graders can apply for additional qualifications to gain access to these specialized subjects.

Time Commitment

Grading is flexible—pick up assignments that fit your schedule! During the school year (September–December and February–May), graders should be prepared to dedicate at least 6 hours per week, which equates to approximately four assignments per month.

Regular grading benefits everyone—teachers and students receive valuable, consistent feedback, and graders build habits that improve their speed and efficiency.

When to Apply

Applications open twice a year:

  • Fall semester applications: Mid-July through mid-September
  • Spring semester applications: Early January through early March

Application windows may shift based on hiring needs, and applicants can typically expect to hear back within one week after submitting their application activity.

Pay

Graders start at $14 per hour, with opportunities to earn $16 per hour by consistently meeting or exceeding expectations. Advanced work may come with an hourly pay increase, and surge pricing is available for certain courses or assignments with short turnaround times.

Pay calculations consider assignment length and teacher requirements, including the time needed to review the prompt and rubric.

If you’re looking for a flexible, impactful, and rewarding remote job, grading with Marco Learning could be a perfect fit!
