Few people realize how important personal growth and development is and how it shapes everything in your life. Whether it is business, parenthood, sports, religion or just becoming comfortable in your own skin, you must develop yourself regularly.

Unleash Your Full Potential

 Why You Need Personal Growth

What is the importance of personal growth and development? What if you went to bed every night a better and more developed person than your were when you woke up earlier that morning? If you did that everyday, after a couple of years you would be some kind of super human version of yourself. A lot of people try to buy better clothes or get better hair or get better stuff and they think it helps them personally develop into a more liked version of themselves.

The reality is, it is all just a bunch of stuff that can be replaced or changed anytime. But the outside really reflects what goes on from the inside. Say you’re a fitness model. If you were a fitness model that worked out 7 days per week, 2 hours a day, but ate nothing but junk food, how could of a fitness model would they be? Not a very good one right?

This is because the inside of their body is all messed up from the poor quality of fuel it is getting. You would be a fat and unpopular fitness model that definitely wouldn’t be on the cover of any magazines anytime soon. It starts from the inside.

Personal Growth And Development In Business

If you are an entrepreneur with your own business and are dealing with inner struggles all the time, you will probably fail to make enough money to get by. Become right with yourself by taking the necessary measures to feel good about yourself, so you can focus on your business. Whether it is relationship problems, something from your past haunting you, health problems, doubt, self esteem problems, etc., you have to settle them and move on. The people that make the most money in the world, always preach to grow yourself daily.

Ways To Grow And Develop Yourself

Bring out your full potential by doing a few things regularly. Try any of these to reach your personal development goals:

Read To Succeed

Always endorsed by the elite men and women of the world. Reading books can really sharpen your intellect, way of speaking, and knowledge of just about anything you may be interested in reading about. In business, you want to be able to talk like you are the expert in your niche, so that customers will gravitate towards you.

Books will help you also better understand people and how they think. People are the product, because without them, nothing could be bought. So, use books like Psyco-Cybernetics and The 50th Law to better understand people and business. For more on reading books for success, check this out.

Meditation

What you’re probably thinking right now is,”How the heck does meditation improve my business or personal growth?” I used to think that as well, but then I realized that many of the successful people I followed and studied really pushed meditation as one of the keys to developing one’s self. It helps relieve stress and relax for one thing.

There’s always so much going on in peoples’ everyday lives that most don’t think to stop and just block out the outside world for a few min a day to develop a unity with the mind and body. Maybe you get really emotional or are ADD. You can meditate to focus on your inner self and relieve any emotions or mental struggles that are affecting you.It can even help you sleep better at night because of your increased self control over behaviors and emotions throughout the day. Daily Audios/Conference Calls

This might sound weird, but have you ever heard of those tapes that people used to put in their cars to listen to successful people talk or teach you something while you’re driving? Well tapes are obsolete these days, but the value of audios or conference calls has not diminished. Think about what your goals are in life. Now, think about who has reached the same goals as you would like to. Wouldn’t it be smart to study or learn from people that have what you want?

In business especially, this is key to personal growth and development. Listening to successful people or people that have accomplished similar goals that you have, can help you understand what it takes to reach those goals as well. You’ll begin to think more like them, speak more like them, and develop an understanding of how these people reached these goals and how you can do it as well. Surrounding Yourself With The Right People

Have you ever heard the quote:

“You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”

– Jim Rohn

This is very true and must be understood for the sake of your personal growth and development in any aspect of life. You can be the most strong-willed, tough-minded individual on the planet Earth, but you will still be influenced by the people you spend the most time with. You could have the most successful parents in town and still end up being a washed up drug dealer or something because of spending too much time with the wrong crowd.

If you want success and to reach any goals you may have, you must evaluate who you spend time with the most and who you take advice from. If you want advice on getting rich, don’t take it from a homeless man who lives in a box. If you want to be a bodybuilder, don’t take advice from a 500 lb fat guy who eats 2 large pizzas every night and can’t fit through a doorway. You get the idea. If you want something take advice from people who know a lot about what you’re interested in.

The 5 people you are spending the most time with may be hurting your personal growth, so think long and hard about who may be helping or hurting you. That doesn’t mean you need to drop all your friends and start getting only successful friends. It just means maybe spend a little more time with some people who will have a positive influence on your development and get a mentor that will give you the advice you need to thrive. Need more people around you to mentor and uplift you in your personal development?

    BRILLIANT.
    TARGET THE YOUTH.

Our youth is addicted to what we like to call ‘average.’
We need more workshops internationally on self development, personal growth.

It all starts & ends with the youth. Well done for taking the time to help others grow & be their best.

I agree, Franco. I would love for this to go even farther by incorporating personal development more in schools.
